My 50th Birthday Gifts

Health - Although lifes little aches and pains are more frequent I am thankful for my health.

Family - Highlights of the day, by far, was the time I spent with my family. I love you all!

Prosperity - Again, I’m a lucky guy and thankful for everything I have.

Friends - Well, I celebrated the day with 10,946 of my closest friends!

The Winterhawks -  sound and thorough beat down of the T-Birds, 9-1. This was worse than an are whooping. It was complete and total domination. I saw it posted on the forums this morning that Seattle has accepted their fate and I think I have to agree though not discounting the clinic the ‘Hawks put on last night.

The Scoring - Nino and Ross both get hat tricks, Trott get his second goal, Cunningham throws one in and with Troy Rutkowski’s goal, the defense steps up again with points.

Amazingly, not a single scrap out on the ice. Almost unheard of when these two teams get together. Even more amazing was we spent all of 8 minutes in the penalty box. Are you listening Brad Ross? Good things happen for you when you stay out of the box.

All in all, not a bad day!! Next up, tonight in Vancouver against the Giants. We are heading to Vancouver shortly to take in all the action!

Things I’ve learned

I’m lazy. Or, more to the point, I want results. Now. No learning curves for me. At least no steep curves. I’ve bought into what I call the “Great American Concept” - The Path Of Least Resistance!!

Let me explain.

I like to write. I’m not the best writer but I do enjoy it when motivated to do so. I also like to take pictures. I’m no Ansel Adams but I do enjoy it. Now I won’t be writing any books or magazine articles anytime soon or publishing coffee table books of my best photos but I would like to share these things that I enjoy with Family and Friends. To reach this end,  I have dabbled in blogging from time to time. For me, this has meant registering domain names, finding and securing hosting and fumbling through really fun stuff like c-panel, PHP, word press, databases and on and on. Then configuring all this stuff. Themes, plugins, options…it’s alot of work! I just want to write and take photo’s.  I’ve started and stopped a few times, always starting out with high hopes, determined to create a comfortable environment for my thoughts. I suppose I am guilty of having a short attention span because I’ve always lost interest quickly and just given up.  It got to be too much work to maintain. Least resistance for me, remember?

Recently I came across tumblr which allowed me to just write, or share photo’s with ease. I could even easily share a web page or a quote or a recipe or anything I happened to come across online with a single click. I began posting and sharing and while I won’t fool myself into thinking that anyone cared, or was even reading it,  I was happy, life was good and somehow it fulfilled a need. Before too long, I just had to own my domain name. No sweat, they are cheap and easy and it was simple to point it to my tumblr page. Then, I wanted to be able to give my phantom readers a way to comment on my posts. I thought it would be fun to interact with whoever wanted to leave me a comment.  I felt the need to purchase hosting and attempt the configuration process with c-panel, php, plugins, databases and all the other crazy stuff. “It will be different this time” was my mantra as I dove in, yet again determined to create a comfortable environment for my thoughts. Guess what? I discovered I was lazy, I traded writing and posting for configuring. I quickly grew tired of it.  As a result I have moved back in to my old tumblr space. The only difference is now I’ve added a way for people to comment on my posts. There is less resistance, I am happy, life is good and I somehow feel fulfilled.

Feel free to leave me a comment once in a while.
